book-saleThe Claverack Free Library will hold its annual fall book sale on October 6, 7 and 8.  Book lovers can browse a huge selection of gently used fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as children’s books, all sorted by subject beneath the tents. Proceeds from this sale, combined with the spring book sale, contribute nearly 10 percent to the library’s annual operating budget.

A preview reception, with refreshments, will be held on Friday, October 6 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. For the $10 entry fee, buyers have first choice of all books offered at early-bird premium (double) pricing. Please note that this preview replaces the customary Saturday early-bird hours.

The sale runs on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. and on Sunday from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. On Saturday, luncheon is served along with home-baked specialties and beverages. Home-baked specialties and beverages will be offered throughout the day on Sunday.

Book prices range from $1 for hardcover books and larger paperbacks to $.50 for small paperbacks. Oversized, art, travel, and other books of value are priced accordingly. Bargain hunters can return on Sunday and purchase large reusable Claverack Library tote bags for $15 and fill them with books for free (specially priced books excluded).

The Friends of the Claverack Library will offer a special selection of variously priced artwork for sale.

Tours of the new Claverack Library and community center’s progress will also be available.

Donations of clean used books are accepted until Friday, September 29 and volunteers are welcome to come help sort under the tent prior to the sale. There are volunteer sign-up sheets available at the library.

Please be aware that, due to space constraints, textbooks, technical manuals, videotapes and books in poor condition cannot be accepted.

Baked goods may be dropped off at the library on Friday, October 6.

Drop by the Friends of the Claverack Library table to see how community members are helping the library become a more vibrant place for all to enjoy.
