The Christmas Writings of Charles Dickens

Local Charles Dickens enthusiast, Stewart Sommerville, will present a discussion of the Christmas writings of Charles Dickens.
Although known primarily for the iconic A Christmas Carol, Dickens’ association with the holiday remains a powerful influence on Anglo-American holiday celebrations to this day. Mr. Sommerville will discuss how this relationship changed traditional Victorian celebrations of the holiday through the entire cannon of Dickens’ Christmas writings prior to and including A Christmas Carol and beyond.
