The Claverack Free Library has served as a catalyst in the heart of our community by lending educational materials for free since1829. Today, a new library and community center is in the works with an enhanced mission to help people connect, learn and grow through social and cultural interaction and technology.
AS WE ENTER THE FINAL CONSTRUCTION PHASE,
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED MORE THAN EVER
This new library facility in the former A.B. Shaw Firehouse will enrich and enliven the community by ensuring adequate space for Internet access for those not served in our rural community, free and diverse programming for all ages, resources for job seekers, small business support and literacy coaching and mentoring, all while continuing to lend educational and cultural materials for free. Just as important, it will create much-needed gathering space capable of hosting and collaborating with other organizations to reduce duplication of facilities and services region-wide to bring us closer together.
A DESTINATION FOR DISCOVERING OPPORTUNITIES,
A PLACE OF POSSIBILITIES
Getting to this point has been challenging. But now the capital campaign to create the new Claverack Free Library and community center nears the move-in phase, with $1.8 million of the $2.4 million budget committed from more than 450 donations of all magnitudes from our neighbors, local businesses, private charitable foundations and New York State Library’s Division of Library Development.
THIS NEW LIBRARY IS AN INVESTMENT IN OUR TOWN
AND YOUR GIFT WILL HELP US FINISH
Contact us for upcoming on-site events and tours and to become part of this unique and vital community center to brighten the future of Claverack.
