The FRIENDS of the Claverack Free Library
Is Hosting the Claverack Library’s Book Sale
The Claverack Free Library’s fall book sale, renowned throughout the region for its selection of great books at great prices, will be held on Friday, October 8 through Sunday, October 10 on the lawn at 629 Route 23B, Claverack. This year, out of necessity, the event will look very different.
The FRIENDS of the Library – with support from the library’s staff, board of trustees, and other volunteers – are committed to hosting a safe and successful event, with the health of our community-at-large the highest priority. There will be additional spacing between tables to allow for physical distancing and other protocols in place such as masking recommendations, available hand sanitizer, and staggered entry to avoid crowding.
For many years, the fall and spring book sales have drawn book lovers from around the region, while generating nearly 10 percent of the library’s annual operating budget.
On Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., a special preview will be held with an entry price of $15. This includes soft beverages, wine, or beer, snacks, and the first opportunity to buy clean books, DVD’s and CD’s.
The sale continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with no admission cost. In place of the traditional lunch on Saturday, “What’s Really Good? BBQ” will bring their food truck.
Throughout the sale, prices range from $2 for hardcover books to $1 for most paperbacks. Children’s books will be priced attractively for young readers, their families, and teachers and some gift-quality and art books will be specially marked.
