2017: Claverack Free Library Holds Annual Fall Book Sale
CLAVERACK — The Claverack Free Library holds its annual fall book sale on October 6, 7 and 8, rain or shine. Book lovers can browse a huge selection of gently used fiction and non-fiction titles, as well as children’s books, all sorted by subject beneath the tents. Proceeds from this sale, combined with the spring book sale, contribute nearly 10 percent to the library’s annual operating budget.
A preview reception, with refreshments, will be held on Friday, October 6 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. For the $10 entry fee, buyers have first choice of all books offered at early-bird premium (double) pricing. Note that this preview replaces the customary Saturday early-bird hours.
The sale runs on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. and on Sunday from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. On Saturday, bagels, cider donuts and hot drinks will be served in the morning, and luncheon is served along with home-baked specialties and beverages. Home-baked specialties and beverages are offered throughout the day on Sunday.
Book prices range from $1 for hardcover books and larger paperbacks to $.50 for small paperbacks. Oversized, art, travel, and other books of value are priced accordingly. Bargain hunters can return on Sunday and purchase large reusable Claverack Library tote bags for $15 and fill them with books for free (specially priced books excluded).
The Friends of the Claverack Library will offer a special selection of variously priced artwork for sale.
Tours of the new Claverack Library and community center’s progress will also be available.
Donations of clean used books are accepted until Friday, September 29 and volunteers are welcome to come help sort under the tent prior to the sale. There are volunteer sign-up sheets available at the library. Please be aware that, due to space constraints, textbooks, technical manuals, videotapes and books in poor condition cannot be accepted. Baked goods may be dropped off at the library on Friday, October 6.
Take a break from yard work, stop in, and stock up on your winter reading!
The library is located at 629 State Route 23B, Claverack, New York. For more information, please contact the Claverack Free Library at firstname.lastname@example.org, 518-851-7120, or stop in during library hours.
