Step back in time to uncover the world of dinosaurs through fossils, hands-on activities and interactive discoveries about life long ago.

Hands-On Archeology

This hands-on program brings authentic Hudson Valley artifacts to the library for an interactive exploration of Indigenous life. Participants will work in small groups to investigate and handle materials associated with the Iroquois and Algonquin peoples.

Activities include examining projectile point chronology, identifying and interpreting traditional tools, and exploring artifact reconstruction. Students will also engage with items such as pestles, awls, hammerstones, spear points, pottery, and more, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s Indigenous cultures and technologies.
Indigenous Tools, Artifacts, and Archeology

Discover how archeologists learn about the past through the objects people left behind.
This engaging presentation explores Indigenous cultures of New York State using authentic artifacts found in Ulster County.

Participants will learn about the tools, materials, and daily lives of the region's first inhabitants while gaining an introduction to archeology and how artifacts help tell the story of the Hudson Valley's past.

After the presentation, young attendees are invited to take a closer look at the artifacts and ask questions about how they were made and used.
Cooperative Extension Summer Science Fun

Saturday, August 8th—school may be out, but science fun is in session! Join a 4-H educator for hands-on experiments where we’ll mix, measure, observe, and explore. Youth will practice real science skills, use scientific tools, and discover how fun science can be!

Saturday, August 15th—Cooperative Extension Summer Fun Part 2! We’ll pick up where we left off and continue to observe, explore, and discover the wonderful world of science.

Musical Story Time 
Fridays 10-11:00 AM
Join local musician Abby Lappen for a lively story hour filled with music, imaginative storytelling, and interactive movement. Toddlers, children and families of all ages will enjoy this engaging and energetic program as they sing, move, and explore together while building early literacy skills through music and play. Sponsored by The Children's Foundation.
