Claverack Free Library History Archives

The library’s History Room houses resources that pertains to the history of The Town of Claverack and its surrounding areas, The Claverack College, Columbia County and New York State.  Among the holdings are class photos from the Claverack School,  early editions and manuscripts from Delia VanDeusen, historical periodicals, vintage postcards. The library is home to an extensive collection of photos, ledgers, curriculum and ephemera from The Claverack College. The archival collections contain newspaper clippings, original documents, photographs, local history booklets, pamphlets, and local oral histories. The books are all cataloged and searchable online in the Mid-Hudson Library System.

Special collections:

Claverack College & Hudson River Institute
This collection contains postcards and photographs related to Claverack College and Hudson River Institute. This includes images of the campus, as well as several class portraits. The collection also contains photographs of Claverack College sports teams from the mid-nineteenth century.
The collection also includes the college newspaper, “The Vidette”, and programs for concerts and graduation events.

Claverack, NY History
This collection contains photographs and postcards relating to the history of Claverack, N.Y. This includes several photographs documenting the blizzard of 1888, as well as images of local businesses and residents. The collection also contains programs from the Claverack Free School.
