Art Among the Stacks: Collage Like Matisse

A colorful flyer promoting our Art Among the Stacks art classes through a generous grant from the CREATE Council on the Arts- "Collage Like Matisse" Saturday, May 30th | 11:00 - 1:00 PM Suitable for ages 16 - Adult - Class size is very limited, registration is a must.  518-851-7120 or email: info@claveracklibrary.org Discover the playful and expressive world of Henri Matisse in this hands-on art class inspired by his iconic paper cut-outs. Participants will explore Matisse’s innovative “painting with scissors” technique, using brightly colored paper, shape, and composition to create their own bold, imaginative artwork. Learn how Matisse transformed simple cut paper into one of the most celebrated artistic styles of his later career—and create a piece inspired by his joyful, modern approach to art. K. Velis Turan is a mixed media artist living and working in the Hudson Valley region of New York. Her quilted fiber artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her focus, whether realistic or abstract, is always intensely graphic. This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of The Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by CREATE Council on the Arts.
